Bach Flower Remedies

What are Bach Flower Remedies?

The 38 remedies were discovered between the period of 1920s to 1930s by Dr Edward Bach, who is a well-known bacteriologist, physician and pathologist.  Simply put, they are solutions of water containing healing energies of the 38 flowering or non-flowering plant, preserved in alcohol.  Each of the 38 remedies is directed at a particular characteristic or emotional state.  Out of the 38 remedies, only 1 remedy is made using natural spring water. The rest are made using flowers of plants or trees with healing properties.

How are the remedies made?

The remedies are made using 2 main methods: The Sun Method and Boiling Method. The blooming flowers of the flowering plants are plucked and placed in a glass bowl of water and placed under the hot sun, the to draw out the healing energy of the flowers are transferred to the water during this process.  For woodier plants, the boiling method will be used.

How does the remedies work?

The remedies work by balancing the negative emotion or state of mind of a person in order to achieve emotional balance.  Depending on what was identified during the consultation, the BFRP will prepare a personalized remedy mix which will be taken orally.

The recommended dosage is 4 drops at a minimum of 4 times a day.  Drip into a glass of water and drink or sip regularly.  Or it can be dripped directly onto the tongue but take extra care to avoid touching the tip with the tongue to prevent contamination. Store the mixing bottle in the refrigerator whenever possible to preserve it.

Depending on how deeply rooted the emotions are, one may experience immediate effect while some others may take weeks or months before any effects can be felt.

Are there side effects from taking the remedies?

The remedies are natural and would not produce any side effect from its consumption.  However one may experience some body sensations after taking the remedies which are usually part of the detoxification or healing process.  As the remedies work on balancing a particular negative emotion, some may also feel a change in moods or feeling particularly emotional.  This usually indicates that the remedies are working and new emotions (usually hidden ones) are surfacing.

Are these safe for young children?

The Bach Flower Remedies are so gentle that it can be used on babies, young children and even pregnant women. There are even amazing effects when used on animals and plants.  Even though it is preserved in alcohol, its content is almost negligible when it is further diluted in the mixing bottle, and then into your glass of water or drink.

However, if you are still concerned with the alcohol content, the remedies could be dripped into a glass of steaming hot water for the alcohol to be evaporated first before consuming.
